DONALD TRUMP GETS SHUT DOWN BY DAVID LETTERMAN IN THROWBACK INTERVIEW

Donald Trump was sticking his foot in his mouth long before running for president and bashing Latinos.

During a 2012 interview with David Letterman, the GOP candidate dished about issues with China before boasting about his now defunct Macy’s clothing line.

When asked where the pieces were made, Trump didn’t have a clue.

“I don’t know where they were made, but they were made someplace,” he said matter-of-factly. “It’s ties, shirts, cuff links sold at Macy’s and they’re doing great.”

Letterman pointed out that the shirts were made in Bangladesh and the ties, which Trump described as the “number one selling ties anywhere in the world,” were ironically made in none other than China.

“I would like people in this country to get first preference,” Letterman said to the sound of applause as Trump agreed and once again advertised that they could be found at Macy’s.

“Let’s just shut down the Donald Trump factory in Beijing and we’ll put up a tie factory in Jamaica, Queens,” Letterman suggested.

While Trump said he was all “for it,” it’s a bit too late as the department store franchise shut down their business relationship with him back in July after the Republican presidential candidate’s controversial remarks about immigrants from Mexico and other countries being “killers and rapists.”

“We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico,” the company said in a statement at the time. “In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy’s values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection, which has been sold at Macy’s since 2004.”
